Deb Shubat is proud owner of Shubat’s Fruits, located up the shore by the French River. Shubat’s Fruits sells fruit trees and bushes, transplants of plants and veggies, bee houses, occasional baked goods, a wide variety of midsummer veggies and fruit(apples blueberries pears plums), kimchi, potted perennials, and cut flowers.
Deb grew up in White Bear Lake, and got her start in farming through her grandparents, who were primarily berry farmers. She learned plenty about growing multiple crops and also helped with harvesting Christmas trees. Deb went to UMD to study botany, and completed a Master’s degree in fruit science, specializing in blueberries. She also used to be a biology professor at the university and ran the greenhouse on campus.
Deb plays many instruments and enjoys singing. She still performs and has previously been seen at Homegrown! Catch Deb at the Duluth Farmer’s Market throughout the season.
